New
Employees Guaranteed Acceptance
for Voluntary Long-Term Care Insurance
Special
Opportunity for a Limited Time
New employees eligible for PSC-CUNY
Welfare Fund benefits may enroll without proof of good
health in the
John Hancock Long Term Care
program if they apply within 60 days after hire. Once this period
is over a medical questionnaire must be completed and qualification will
be required. An added incentive for considering this insurance program
now is that the premiums are significantly less expensive for younger
people.
Long Term Care
insurance provides payment toward care that becomes necessary for
persons unable to care for themselves due to chronic illness, severe
physical impairment, the normal aging process, or cognitive impairment,
such as Alzheimer’s disease. The Hancock program covers services ranging
from nursing home care to skilled nursing care to custodial care at
home. It also includes services offered through adult day health care
programs and other community agencies. The plans are designed to help
safeguard financial assets and plan for the future by providing
financial protection against the devastating cost of long-term care.
Enrollment
In order to qualify for coverage, each
person must complete and return an application directly to the John
Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company. Information and application
materials are available
here.
The Welfare Fund urges new employees to
consider the Long Term Care Program during the guaranteed enrollment
window. It is a one-time only opportunity.
