CARRIERS' FINANCIAL STATUS.
Our Fund holds contracts
with a number of insurance companies (Disability through
Standard Life, Voluntary Life Insurance and Voluntary
Catastrophic Insurance through AIG and Voluntary Long-Term
Care Insurance through John Hancock).

New
Employees Guaranteed Acceptance for Voluntary Long-Term Care
Insurance.
New hires eligible for PSC-CUNY Welfare Fund
benefits may enroll
without proof of good health in the
John Hancock Long Term Care program if they apply within
60 days after hire—an enrollment window that is now half-way
closed for this semester’s new employees. Read more

Health Benefits Transfer Period
for Active Employees and Retirees.
The annual transfer period for your
basic health insurance is
approaching, with dates to be announced by the city shortly.
Because 2008 is an even-numbered year, retirees may also

Medicare Part B Premium Increases.
The Medicare Modernization Act of 2003 brought us Part D (drug
coverage) and implemented–for the first time–a
sliding scale premium for Part B (medical coverage). Read

Payroll Deduction Questions?
The Welfare Fund
can only provide information on payroll deductions for Extended
Disability insurance and the John Hancock Long Term Care
Program. Information on other deductions is available
from NYSUT at 1-800-626-8101.
